Background

Marvin Harrison Jr.’s college career has been nothing short of exceptional. As the first OSU wide-receiver to achieve back-to-back 1,000+ yard seasons, he has solidified his position as the consensus number one overall draft pick by CBS Sports. Notably, Harrison was honored with the 2023 Biletnikoff Award, presented to the top college football receiver, and was a finalist for the prestigious Heisman Trophy. Coming from a great football family, led by his father, NFL Pro Football Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison, the younger Harrison has consistently showcased exceptional hands, speed, and size, standing tall at 6′-4″ and weighing in at 205 pounds.

Potential Draft Outcomes

Bears

Now, let’s dive into my opinions. The Bears hold the first overall pick this year, yet they are facing challenges at the quarterback position. Ultimately, their decision hinges on whether the Bears have enough confidence in their quarterback situation come draft day to overlook Caleb Williams and instead select Harrison. A young, standout wide receiver such as Harrison could significantly elevate the team’s performance. Just consider the impact JJ has had on the Vikings in recent years. Nevertheless, it’s essential to have a capable quarterback throwing to him in order to maximize his potential impact.

According to recent news, the Bears are actively considering trading away Fields. To me, it feels like their first overall pick comes town to the value they can get for Fields. If the Bears manage to acquire a capable quarterback, they may choose to draft Harrison as their first overall pick and select a lower-tier rookie quarterback with a later pick, passing up on C. Williams as their top choice. This year, there are many free agent quarterbacks available, including names such as J. Winston, K. Cousins, T. Taylor, J. Dobbs, G. Minshew, and many others. While none of these players really offer a long-term solution at quarterback for the Bears, they might provide enough support to transition a rookie QB into a starting role.

Patriots

The Patriots face a crucial decision. With Bill Belichick’s departure, the team is in a rebuilding phase. While the quarterback position is the top priority for reconstruction, if the Bears select C. Williams first overall and Drake Maye goes at number two, the Patriots may opt for Harrison instead of a lower-tier QB. This choice could leave them with a sub-par QB, but Harrison’s impact might be sufficient to elevate the QB to a usable status. Although it may not seem like the optimal move for the Patriots, passing up this opportunity could prove challenging.

Cardinals

Lasty, the Cardinals hold the fourth overall pick in the draft. The team’s wide-receiver room is in need of an upgrade, so selecting Harrison would be a great choice for them. Based on their current roster, it’s evident that the Cardinals do not require a quarterback upgrade, providing them with a clear path to select Harrison if he is available at four. However, this remains a significant if. While it may be unlikely for him to fall to the Cardinals, it would unquestionably work to their advantage if he does.

Final Opinion

In my opinion, Harrison will be drafted by the Patriots. It seems probable that the Bears will prioritize selecting C. Williams as the first overall pick, considering their struggles with the quarterback position. Also, Drake Maye is highly likely to be chosen as the second overall pick. This positions Harrison at number three, and I believe that the Patriots will seize the opportunity to bring him on board. Nevertheless, in an ideal scenario, I would prefer to see him land with the Cardinals.

Where do you think Harrsion will end up?
